The Role
You’ll deliver engaging, practical training in cycle maintenance and repair up to Level 2, helping learners develop industry-relevant skills in a workshop environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver hands-on cycle mechanics training aligned with recognised qualifications
- Create engaging lesson plans and schemes of work that meet curriculum standards
- Assess learner progress and maintain accurate records
- Support individual learning plans, identifying and addressing additional needs
- Embed literacy, numeracy, and employability skills into your sessions
- Promote safe working practices and maintain a positive workshop culture
- Contribute to quality assurance processes and continuous improvement
- Work collaboratively with education and support staff to ensure learner success
- Encourage progression into further training, education, or employment opportunities
What We’re Looking For
You don’t have to be a qualified teacher yet—we’ll support you to get there.
Essential
- At least 2 years’ experience in cycle mechanics, bike repair, or a related field
- Qualification in cycle mechanics, engineering, or similar (Level 2+)
- Strong practical skills in diagnostics, servicing, and repair
- A willingness to gain a teaching qualification within 6 months
- Commitment to achieving assessor and subject-specific qualifications
- Good communication skills and ability to engage learners positively
- Basic literacy and numeracy (Level 1 or willingness to achieve)
- Ability to pass an enhanced DBS check
Desirable
- Teaching or assessing qualifications (AET, TAQA, etc.)
- Experience delivering training or working with diverse learners
- Level 2 literacy and numeracy
